Project overview
City Walk was a large-scale entertainment experience in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, featuring programmed visual content, live activations, and DJ performances. The project required a versatile video workflow capable of supporting continuously evolving content and different entertainment formats throughout its operation.
Technical role
I worked across two complementary roles: Disguise Video Operator for programmed show content and Resolume VJ for the live DJ sessions. I managed the daily content workflow, prepared timeline updates, and executed video cues in coordination with the show caller. During the music performances, I mixed and triggered visuals live, adapting the visual rhythm to each DJ set.
Technical approach
The system was built around six Disguise media servers configured as Director, four Actors, and Understudy, with an additional cold-backup server available on-site. Dual 10 GbE networks provided remote access and control across the installation.
All Disguise servers were equipped with VFC HDMI output cards and routed through a Lightware 48 × 48 matrix into an Analog Way Aquilon RS4 switcher. A dedicated Resolume Arena server delivered three independent 4K outputs for the DJ performances, creating a flexible workflow between programmed playback and real-time visual operation.
