Project overview
Little Asia was a long-term live entertainment project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, operating for nearly three months. The venue combined live broadcasts of the Asian Cup football matches with DJ performances, requiring a flexible video system capable of switching between sports coverage, programmed content, and real-time visuals.
Technical role
I worked as both a Disguise Video Operator and Resolume VJ throughout the production. My responsibilities included updating and managing content, preparing media for playback, operating the Disguise timelines, and triggering each video cue according to the show caller’s instructions. During the DJ performances, I operated Resolume Arena and mixed real-time visuals in synchronization with the music.
Technical approach
The Disguise system consisted of six media servers configured as Director, Actor 1, Actor 2, Actor 3, Actor 4, and Understudy, with an additional server maintained as a cold backup due to the project’s remote location and extended duration.
The servers were remotely controlled through two 10 GbE networks and equipped with VFC HDMI output cards. Video signals were routed through a Lightware 48 × 48 matrix before reaching an Analog Way Aquilon RS4 switcher, which managed the final signal distribution and presentation workflow.
A dedicated Resolume Arena server provided three 4K outputs for the DJ performances, allowing real-time visual content to be integrated into the main video system.
